Wireless Control Architecture
The PDDEG-S/PDTS acts as a secure TCP server, connecting the PDZG-E to the rest of the Dynalite system. The PDZG-E is configured as a TCP client to the PDDEG-S/PDTS.
Each PDDEG-S/PDTS supports secure connection to up to 25 Ethernet devices (PDZG-E, DDBC320-DALI, DDRC-GRMS-E).
Each PDZG-E supports up to:
-
WIA drivers only: ≤200
-
If connecting any other devices (SC100, Hue, etc.): ≤64
Zigbee drivers are controlled like any other luminaire, using standard area preset and channel level commands from UIs, sensors, scheduled tasks, etc.
Design Considerations
Keep the following points in mind when planning the wireless sections of your project:
-
Concrete structures and metal barriers/enclosures will negatively impact the Zigbee network signal and range.
-
Each ZigBee device in a network must be within 50m of the PDZG-E.
Additional gateways should be added to cover larger areas. Ensure that neighbouring gateways are placed as far apart as possible and set to different Zigbee channels to avoid interference. -
To ensure a robust mesh network, each ZigBee device on the same network should have at least 3-5 neighboring devices within 10m (preferably direct line-of-sight wherever possible), unless otherwise extended by range specification in the corresponding device data sheet.
-
Try to avoid creating mesh network bottlenecks where a single device has to link multiple other devices back to the rest of the network. This may cause slow response times and unreliable operation.
-
We recommend using Zigbee channels 25 and 20 where possible.
Channel 15 can be used if needed but is vulnerable to BLE interference.
Channel 11 should be avoided due to Wi-Fi interference.
