Occupancy Reporting
System Manager can compile and report occupancy statistics based on motion detection data from DyNet and DALI sensors, using a User Task template.
-
If motion is detected at any point during a specified period, the occupancy state is 'Occupied' for that period.
-
If no motion is detected for the entire period, the occupancy state is 'Unoccupied' for that period.
This topic describes the basic configuration steps in SB and SM to enable occupancy reporting.
System Builder
Occupancy Configurator
Select Configure >
Configure Occupancy to open the configurator.
In the Occupancy Reporting Configuration dialog, set the following properties:
If a device’s motion state changes at any time in this period, it sends the new motion state to the System Manager at the end of the period.
Shorter periods result in more detailed reporting, while longer periods reduce network traffic.
If there is no change in motion state for this duration, the device resends its current state to the System Manager at the end of the next detection period.
Click to save the new task to all affected devices in System Builder.
Select the devices in System View and click
Save to Device > Save modified device data (Shift+F12) to upload the new task to the Dynalite network.
|
The occupancy configurator overwrites any existing occupancy tasks on all affected devices, except for DyNet/DALI devices that already have non-occupancy user tasks saved to them in SB. It is therefore best to run the configurator before creating any other tasks. It is possible to manually create occupancy tasks from the available task templates shown below, but that is outside the scope of this document and should only be attempted by advanced users. |
Occupancy Task Templates
The task templates used by the configurator are located in Tasks >
Select Task Template:
-
DyNet Sensor:
Occupancy - Dynet Sensors.evt -
DALI controller with DALI Sensors:
Occupancy - Dali Sensors.evt
| Manual configuration of occupancy tasks is beyond the scope of this topic, and should only be attempted by advanced users. |
Floor Plan Occupancy Layer
Select
Show/Hide Layers > Occupancy Map to view occupancy information in the Floor Plan window.
By default, occupied areas are red and unoccupied areas are white.
Dark grey regions represent areas with unknown occupancy state, due to one of the following:
-
The area does not have a sensor associated with it.
-
The sensor is offline or not configured to report occupancy.
-
An occupancy message to establish the initial state has not been sent yet.
-
An occupancy message has not been sent in the expected time frame.
Configuring the Occupancy Map
The Occupancy Map settings are found in Tools >
Settings… > Job Settings > Floor Plan > Regions.
-
Occupancy map occupied fill colour represents occupied areas.
-
Occupancy map unoccupied fill colour represents unoccupied areas.
-
Occupancy map unknown fill colour represents areas with an unknown occupancy state.
-
Occupancy status maximum reporting period set the timeout after which an area’s state is shown as unknown.
The configurator automatically sets this number to the Motion check period multiplied by the Number of motion check periods. There is generally no need to change it from the default setting.
System Manager
System Manager Configuration
Occupancy map colours for the System Manager are located in Site Settings > System Settings > Regions.
Site Map Occupancy Layer
View occupancy status by selecting Layers >
Occupancy Map.
In the example below, currently occupied areas are red and unoccupied areas are white.
Reports
There are two occupancy reports in System Manager:
This report displays timestamped occupancy state changes for the selected area and period.
This report displays the occupancy percentage for each interval over the specified time period. Note that the timestamp marks the end of each interval.
