DALI devices

Overview

DALI-2 driver controllers with single-master control, allow DALI input devices such as sensors and user interfaces to be added to a DALI bus. This permits DALI devices to communicate with DALI drivers via the controller. DALI devices reduce the need for parallel data networks or additional gateways so that more control options can be implemented using DALI alone. DALI devices from Philips Dynalite provide scalability and flexibility by simplifying the control infrastructure and wiring of DALI systems.

DALI-2 includes a power consumption allowance for DALI devices (up to 16 sensors and dry contact interfaces) in addition to the power for the drivers. Power regulation of the drivers does not affect the operation of DALI devices.

DALI Load Controller

The DALI-2 controller communicates with DALI devices (e.g., sensors and user interfaces) and acts as a network gateway to translate the messages into DALI and DyNet protocol as required. DyNet connectivity enables the controller to communicate with other controllers and/or other DALI universes allowing, for example, a sensor in one area to communicate with drivers in another area.

A key energy-saving feature of Philips Dynalite DALI-2 controllers is the integrated power relay for each DALI output. This relay can automatically cut power to the drivers on a DALI line when all associated lamps are dimmed to 0%, reducing unnecessary consumption from drivers in standby mode.

Other ancillary components are integrated within the controller, including a DyNet gateway, DALI power supply, DALI receiver/transmitter, and Ethernet port (DDBC320-DALI only).

DALI Universal Sensor

Dynalite DALI universal sensors combine occupancy detection and ambient light level detection. They are individually addressable and powered by the DALI bus. Sensors can control drivers and communicate with the DyNet network via the controller.

DALI Dry Contact Interface

Dynalite DALI dry contact interfaces enable the use of third-party inputs such as keypads, alarm systems, HVAC systems, motorized blind controllers, and many others. They have programmable input functions that enable mechanical switches and relays to interface with the DALI network.
