DDNG232 RS-232 Network Gateway

The Philips Dynalite DDNG232 network gateway provides full duplex serial port integration between the Dynalite network and third-party systems with an RS-232 interface, including AV, lighting desks, projectors, HVAC, BMS, and security systems. This enables various system elements to be controlled together from a single input device, such as a user interface, sensor, or dry contact input.

Although the RS-232 interface only provides point-to-point communication, RS-232 continues to remain popular as it provides both power and data and is isolated from the customer’s IP network.

The gateway can send or receive custom data packets or ASCII strings and translates messages between RS-485 on Port 1 and RS-232 on Port 2. Port 2 can be configured for RS-232 or DyNet Text messaging.

Control from the Dynalite system is typically performed by tasking within the DDNG232 using Send2(), SendP(), and SendPF() commands to integrate with specific third-party equipment.

Features

  • A single RS-232 serial port with Rx, Tx, DTS, and CTS lines.

  • Translation between RS-232 and RS-485 network ports.

  • Port 2 can be configured as RS-232 or DyNet Text gateway.

  • SELV device powered from the control network (electrical enclosure not required).

  • Programmable logic controller capable of comprehensive conditional and sequential logic and arithmetic function processing to simplify the control of multiple devices.

  • Systems integrators can create their own data format library using the onboard conditional logic engine to assemble and transmit user-defined data strings.

  • EIA/TIA-232E and CCITT V.28 compliant driver at speeds of at least 120 kbps.

  • Jumper selectable DCE/DTE mode of operation.

  • ESD Protection for RS-232 I/O Pins to ±15kV.

  • ±30V input voltage range for receivers.
