Registering Your Cloud Gateway

For Caretaker to provide remote connectivity to a site, a PDDEG-S is required on-site to act as a cloud gateway, and must be registered as a cloud gateway in System Builder. Each job file stored on Caretaker must include a registered cloud gateway.

Before registering the gateway, you need to set the job’s and device’s location and time zone. These may not be the same.

  • For the job file, Select Tools > sb icon set location time zone Set Location and Timezone.

  • For the gateway, right-click the device and select sb icon set location time zone Set Location and Timezone.

To register an online gateway, SB must be logged into an Interact account and the gateway must have internet access.

The cloud gateway uses the MQTT protocol to establish a secure TCP connection to the cloud service using factory credentials. The cloud LED indicator on the front of the PDDEG-S flashes to show when it is trying to connect to the cloud. Once you assign it to a project and register the gateway, the LED permanently stays on. The PDDEG-S v2 cloud icon LED is white and the PDDEG-S v3 (unreleased) cloud icon LED is green.

SB displays one of the following icons next to the registered cloud gateway:

  • sb icon cloud gateway Online gateway registered and job opened from the cloud.

  • sb icon cloud gateway local Online gateway registered and job opened from local network.
