Area Manager

The Area Manager allows the creation and basic editing of areas and regions in SM, without the need for System Builder.

Select the desired plan from the list on the left. You can then select an area from the list or by clicking a region on the map.

The right-hand column contains the Area Tools and a list of the Current Changes made since the last save.

Add area

Area refers to a logical area on the system.
Region refers to a shape on the floor plan.
All regions are assigned to an area, but not all areas have a region.

The Add button loads the Select Area dialog.

Select Create New Area and enter the area name, or Use Selected Area to add a new region to the currently selected area.

Tick the Add Polygon Area checkbox to create a polygonal region, or leave it unticked to create a rectangular region.

Click OK, then draw the region on the map:

To draw a polygonal area, click on the map to designate a starting point, then click at each vertex of the required shape. Double click to make the final vertex and finish drawing the shape.
To draw a rectangular area, just click and drag on the map.

Any devices within the new region are automatically assigned to its area.

Delete region

Select a region and click Delete to remove it.

This only deletes the region, NOT the area.

If you delete a region from on top of another region, any devices located in the remaining region are reassigned to its area (or base link area).

Rename area

Select a region in the desired area and click Rename, then enter a new name and click OK.

Edit region

Select a region and click Edit change its shape. Click and drag the vertices to modify the shape, or click in the middle of the shape and drag to relocate it.

Scale region

Select a region and click Scale, then click and drag any of the handles to stretch or resize it, or click in the middle of the shape and drag to relocate it.

Rotate region

Select a region and click Rotate, then click and drag one of the corner handles to rotate it to the desired angle, or click in the middle of the shape and drag to relocate it.

Holding down the Shift key locks the rotation to 45° increments.

Moving, expanding, or rotating the region to cover any devices automatically assigns those devices to that region’s area.

Save changes

To cancel any changes since the last save, click Revert.

Click Apply to save all Current Changes. In the Apply Change dialog box, review the affected regions and devices then click Confirm to finalize the changes.

The Save to Devices dialog box shows the progress of changes as they are saved to the affected devices. Once all changes are complete, click Close.
