Manage Databases
Three main databases are created during System Manager installation:

Job Database - Contains the configuration data for all devices in the job.

Trending Database - Contains time series data for reporting and notional power calculations.

Alarms & Events Database - Contains records of system alarms and events.
Click the
button to open the Database Maintenance window. From here, you can perform the following actions:-
Choose a working database

Back up your existing database
-
Restore your database from a backup
-
Archive old historical data
-
Reload and upgrade your database after making changes in System Builder
Regular database backups protect your information in the event of a computer failure. |
Choosing a Database

Click the
button from the Database Maintenance window. This opens the Job Database wizard. -
Set the Server Name to Computer Name\EMSERVER and select the working Database Name from the dropdown list. Click

Select the Trend database or if the database does not yet exist, enter a name and check Create new database. Click

Select the Alarms and Events database. or if the database does not yet exist, enter a name and check Create new database. Click
. -
Select the Reports database, if required or if the database does not yet exist, enter a name and check Create new database. If there is no requirement to export your reports to a database, then leave this field blank . Click [.sbbutton]#Next*.

to exit the wizard.
Backing up a Database
Backup the databases regularly to create a recent copy, in case the active database becomes corrupted.

from the Data Maintenance window. -
Check the databases that need to be backed up and click

Restoring a Database
The Restore Database wizard retrieves the data from a previous backup.

Check the databases that need to be restored and click

to restore database. -

to close the wizard.
Archiving a Database
If you do not need to retain all historical data in the database, it is possible to move this data to an archive database.

Click
from the Database Maintenance window. -
Select the Archive data before date so that the data before the selected date can be archived.

Select the databases that need to be archived. Click

to exit the wizard.
Reloading and Upgrading Databases
If the working database is modified by System Builder, then before running System Manager client, the database should be reloaded and upgraded to the modified version.

Saving to a database in System Builder
You can save an existing System Builder job file as a database for use in System Manager.

Open the job file for an existing project with System Builder.

Click File > Save As > Save To Database.

Enter the Server Name

Select the database from the Database name drop-down list, or if you want to save the project as a new database, enter the name of the new database.

Click
Your project has now been saved to the database and can be opened with System Manager.
Creating a new database in System Builder
You can create a new System Builder project as a database for use in System Manager.

Open System Builder.
-
Click File > New > New Empty Database.

Enter the server name or enter .\EMSERVER.

Enter the database name.
-
Enter the Job title name.

Click
.
Now you have created a blank project database.
Opening a database in System Builder
You can open a System Manager database in System Builder, make changes, and resave to the database.

Stop System Manager Server from Windows Task Manager services.

Open System Builder.
-
Select File > Open > Open database
-
Select the active System Manager database.

Click

Make the required configuration changes in System Builder.

Select File > Save to save the database.

Close System Builder.
-
Start System Manager Server from Windows Task Manager services.
If you do not save to the database, you may lose all the changes you have made to the System Manager configuration. |
